Terms & Conditions

Brouns & Co Glass Ltd is a supplier of replacement glazing for period properties. The products it supplies may be produced using traditional methods where modern day production techniques are inappropriate. It is in the nature of such specialist products that they commonly include what may be regarded as flaws as compared to modern mass produced goods, whereas these “flaws” are an inherent feature of such types of glass. Whilst the glass is produced to the highest standards, customers should be aware that, for example, they may not meet the same standards of toughness as modern mass produced glass. Customers should therefore ensure that the products Brouns & Co Glass Ltd supplies are suitable for their intended purpose.

Customer’s responsibilities

Please take great care to ensure that the quantities, specification and dimensions set out above and/or referred to in this document are exactly as required. Brouns & Co Glass Ltd will not be liable for any mistakes made by the customer when ordering and the order will not be changed once submitted to Brouns & Co Glass Ltd by the customer.

It is the customer’s responsibility to verify that sufficient rebate (depth, width and height) is available for the systems listed in this order confirmation. Please carefully check these with your installer/contractor prior to signing the order confirmation.

It is solely the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the products are suitable for the customer’s intended use and Brouns & Co Glass Ltd takes no responsibility for this.

Installation

Brouns & Co Glass Ltd does not install its products and this is solely the responsibility of the customer. The customer should ensure that the glazier or other tradesperson is suitably qualified to carry out the works. Brouns & Co Glass Ltd will not be responsible for any errors made during installation under any circumstances.

It is particularly important to note that the manufacturer’s guidelines and/or other instructions are strictly adhered to during installation, as if not, this will invalidate any warranties and/or guarantees given by Brouns & Co Glass Ltd or the manufacturer.

Glazing tolerances and installation

Brouns & Co Glass Ltd is a supplier of hand-made, bespoke products. Please note that we work with a tolerance of +/- 1mm and the customer agrees and acknowledges that this is acceptable.

Glass types

Brouns & Co Glass Ltd is a supplier of traditional types of glass. Some of these products are manufactured using traditional processes. By their very nature, certain types of products including but not exclusively Cylinder Glass, Hand Drawn Glass and Machine Drawn Glass will commonly have inherent imperfections. Please ensure that this suits your intended purpose before placing an order. Such imperfections are an inherent part of the product and the customer accepts that it is not entitled to a refund or return on this basis. Brouns & Co Glass Ltd accepts no responsibility for ensuring that any particular type of product is suitable for its intended purpose.

Safety and security

It is solely the customer’s responsibility to check whether any glazing for the project needs to meet any safety or security standards. Brouns & Co Glass Ltd takes no responsibility for this.

Delivery and storage

When shipped to the customer direct, the product is packed so as to ensure it arrives in excellent condition with each pane separated by packers. Delivery cases are fitted with anti-tilt devices. Larger panes may be transported using an A frame. Please inspect the glass before accepting delivery. Any issues must be reported within 48 hours of delivery. The product must also be stored indoors before it is installed and not exposed to the elements. Whilst in storage, the product must be kept in dry conditions with adequate ventilation, and protected from direct sunlight away from any other heat and moisture. It must not be subject to extreme temperature changes. The storage area must also be free from solvents, chemicals, acids, fuel or other hazardous substances. In the event that the product is moved before installation, it must be packed with care and by using packaging that it suitable for the product in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

Cleaning and maintenance

Normal cleaning solutions which are recommended for glazing may be used. We recommend a mild detergent and water solution. The use of a squeegee is not recommended. If a squeegee is used, then particular care must be taken to ensure that dirt particles do not become trapped under the blade and dragged across the glass.

Surface contact by any harsh abrasives or anything containing metal must be avoided.

For maintenance of our MONO system products, particular care must be taken when cleaning so as to avoid damaging the hard Low-E coating on the room-facing side of the panes. Abrasive cleaners must not be used.

Terms & Conditions

All orders are subject to Brouns & Co Glass Ltd Terms and Conditions and by signing this form the customer acknowledges it has read and accepts these Terms and Conditions. It is particularly important that the customer notes that Brouns & Co Glass Ltd will not accept the customer’s terms and conditions or other contractual provisions unless expressly agreed in writing.

The customer agrees that this order confirmation form together with Brouns & Co Glass Ltd’s Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the customer and Brouns & Co Glass Ltd, and supersedes all previous correspondence, agreements, arrangements and understandings between the customer and Brouns & Co Glass Ltd, whether oral or written.

Prices

All prices are subject to TAX at the locally prevailing rate. Tariffs may be added depending on the destination of the shipped goods.

Payment terms

We require payment of a 70% non-refundable deposit upon placement of order. We will notify you once production has been completed and we will require the remaining 30% to be paid prior to shipment.

Time of delivery

Production estimate is 2-3 weeks from receipt of the initial payment and signed Order Confirmation (excluding holidays). Shipping times depend on haulage companies and whether we ship air or sea freight. As with all production dependent on the supply of raw materials, there are occasionally factors beyond our control which can cause short-term, unforeseen delays. In the unlikely event of this occurring, we are committed to doing everything possible to ensure that delays to the estimated delivery dates are kept to a minimum. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as a global pandemic or other unusual events that are out of the control of Brouns & Co Glass Ltd and/or its suppliers, Brouns & Co Glass Ltd reserves the right to suspend delivery until such time as it is safe for Brouns & Co Glass Ltd and/or its suppliers to resume business as usual. In these circumstances, Brouns & Co Glass Ltd will however do everything reasonably possible to ensure that delays are kept to a minimum.
